Van Vleck ISD proudly announces that Stephen Jimenez was approved for hire, a 19.5 year law enforcement professional, as the district’s new Chief Of Police. This comes after the retirement of Chief Fred Wesselski.
On Monday, January 13, 2025, Jimenez will officially be sworn in during the regular, monthly VVISD Board of Trustees meeting as Chief of Police and will begin leading the Van Vleck ISD Police Department.
Jimenez brings a wealth of experience and an impressive career in law enforcement. He began his career at the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office in 2005 as a correctional officer, hired on with the El Campo Police Department in 2007 where he was a patrol officer and patrol corporal, and then went back to the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office in 2013 where he served as a patrol deputy and then was an Undercover Narcotics Detective.
In 2017, he was hired on with the Wharton Police Department as a Narcotics Detective. He then served as a K9 Interdiction Officer, Patrol Corporal, Criminal Investigation Detective, and Patrol Sergeant.
He attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2023. He completed his FBI LEEDA Trilogy in December of 2024. He is SWAT Certified and has served as the HRT (SWAT) Team Leader and Team Commander at both the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office and the Wharton Police Department. He is a a TCOLE Instructor, a Firearms Instructor, and a Master Peace Officer. We welcome him to our Leopard family!
